“Supporting Families and Keeping Children Safe”
As part of Monterey County’s Family and Children’s Services, Action Council of Monterey County and its partners Community Human Services and Door to Hope are collaborating to transform the system by implementing a different way to respond to children’s safety needs. This early intervention and prevention program strives to keep children safe in their homes and out of the County’s Family and Children’s Services.
Pathways to Safety 2.0 is based on the belief that parents love their children and want them to be safe, and yet sometimes may need access to resources to keep them safe and healthy. Pathways to Safety 2.0 provides access to a Family Resource Specialist who meets with families to identify their needs and find solutions to build on the family’s strengths. Together they develop a plan to keep the family together and children safe at home. It’s up to the family to choose to participate!
Pathways to Safety supports families with…
*Substance abuse issues that are self-reported or reported by a community agency
* Three or more children in the household under the age of 18
*A child aged 12 and older that is involved in one other system (Children’s Behavioral Health, Probation, Special Education, etc.)
* Parents who are veterans with general or honorable discharge (including military and homeless veterans) seeking support from Family and Children’s Services
* Previous engagement with Pathways to Safety in need of services as determined by our team
